In the Shiva Mahapurana, Vidyeshwar Samhita, Part 1, Chapter 25, Verses 74–75, it is described: "The Nine Mukhi Rudraksha is considered the symbol of Bhairava and Sage Kapila, while Goddess Maheshwari Durga, in Her nine forms, is revered as its presiding deity. Whoever, with devotion, wears this Rudraksha on the left hand becomes equal to Lord Shankara Himself, the Supreme Lord of all."
Similarly, in the Shrimad Devi Bhagavata Mahapurana, Part 2, Eleventh Skandha, Chapter 4, Verses 20–21, it is stated: "The Nine Mukhi Rudraksha is Bhairava Himself and should be worn on the left arm. It bestows both material enjoyment and ultimate liberation. Even grave sins such as thousands of foeticides and hundreds of Brahmin-homicides are instantly destroyed when one wears this sacred Rudraksha."
